What are you afraid of that also completely fascinates you?
For a long time, for me, it has been the deep ocean. I am terrified of deep water—the vastness, the unknown, the things hidden beneath the surface. But at the same time, I am utterly fascinated by it.
I created this piece, “Deep Ocean,” as my personal manifesto for overcoming fear.
In the painting, a woman in a long dress swims deep in the dark waters alongside a massive whale. The whale is huge, powerful, and intimidating—representing the things that scare us the most. But if you look closely, they aren’t fighting. They are at peace with one another. She has learned to coexist with the depth, and she is actively swimming upward, toward the surface and the light.
I wanted to capture that exact moment when you stop letting your fears paralyze you, and instead, you find peace within the depth and keep moving toward the light.
Because this message means so much to me, I’ve made it available as an intimate 13×18 cm fine art print. It’s designed to be a small, powerful daily reminder on your desk, shelf, or bedside table that you are stronger than the depths you’re swimming in.
